Shelly Peeken, AACI, P.App, PLE

Ms. Peeken has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry. Her experience includes multi-family asset management on behalf of pension and segregated fund clients, as well as an established career as a fee appraiser. Ms. Peeken's areas of practice are focused on mid-to-large scale and institutional-grade multi-family properties, new purpose-built rental housing development projects, high-density multi-family land, and non-profit, affordable, and social housing projects across Ontario. Ms. Peeken has an Honours B.A. (Urban Development) from the University of Western Ontario, a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia, and has been a designated appraiser (AACI, P.App) with the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 2010. Ms. Peeken is also designated as a Professional Land Economist (PLE) with the Association of Ontario Land Economics (AOLE).

Mr. Deschenes has 35 years of experience in the real estate industry, including a number of years as a mortgage investment officer with an institutional lender and a long career as a fee appraiser. In 2000, Mr. Deschenes founded Veritas Valuation. Mr. Deschenes’ areas of focus included appraisal and consulting services for institutional-grade, mid-to-large scale multi-family assets and portfolio work in Ontario and beyond. Mr. Deschenes has a Bachelor of Arts (Urban Geography) from the University of Western Ontario and received his appraiser designation (AACI, P.App) with the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 2000. Mr. Deschenes has been a guest lecturer at the University of Western Ontario, as well as participated as a guest speaker in break-out sessions at the Canadian Apartment Investment Conference (CAIC) and the North American New Apartment Construction and Mixed-Use Symposium (Aptcon). Mr. Deschenes retired as an active member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada at the end of 2024.
